Inside the Making of Tranquilock: The Sleep-Deprived Art of Perfect Fit
Designing comfort sounds easy—until it keeps you up at night. For the founders behind the new Tranquilock fitting system, the journey to a universally comfortable earbud meant one thing: pain, prototypes, and pillow testing in the office. Tranquilock ships with three custom retention fittings—the Moon, the Orbit, and the Crescent—to adapt to different ear sh
SOND is ready to go!
Hi everyone! Just an update from me, Yadid, to let you know where were are today. I'm super excited that we're done with the production design, it's taken us 2 years to get here but we're really happy with the hardware. It is all ready to go, suppliers, tooling and packaging is all set. Seriously, we've crammed a lot of tech into these tiny buds.. There are
What is SOND?
What is SOND? SOND dream buds are in-ear sleep computers. They measure your physiology, they respond, and they help guide you towards a more restful sleep, keep you asleep for longer, and wake you up feeling refreshed. The other answer is SOND is a platform designed to optimize sleep. That platform has several components. One component is the wearable itself
Smell shuts down while you sleep.
WEIRD FACTS ABOUT SLEEP Did you know: Your sense of smell shuts down at night? If your house caught on fire tonight, the smell of smoke would not wake you up. This is because your sense of smell is the only sense that completely shuts down when you enter deep sleep. You can hear a baby cry, you can feel a cold draft, but you cannot smell anything. This is li
Why use audio for sleep?
Why use audio for sleep? We use audio neurostimulation, but there's a lot of science that goes into selecting the optimal audio. Different types of audio that impact the brain in a different way. Why do we use sound? The idea is you can stimulate the brain through visual touch audio as well. So it's basically each sense can stimulate the brain somehow. We ch
Real-time sleep sensing
Real-time sleep sensing. Most other products on the market track your physiology offline. What does that mean? If they collect the data as you're sleeping, you have to basically download the data from your device, the ring or a wrist tracker, upload it to the cloud. And then it does the processing and tells you: "this is how you slept". DreamBuds work differ

How can we change people's lives?
A brief recap of Yadid Ayzenberg's pathway to SOND, saw him start and sell his first company to Bose, leading the sleep products division, and eventually moving onto SOND. More
Our design process
Design is a multifaceted process - this is how we did it. We did not invent audio-based interventions. That's already well established. What we did is we managed to put it all in a very tiny form factor that's comfortable for use and build a product experience that enables users to access these interventions easily. The tests were done on multiple layers. Co
Over 100 Prototypes!
Over 100 different prototypes. We've tried about 100 different prototypes until we zeroed in on what's the best and most comfortable for most people. Every millimetre counts. The nozzle, how long it is, the thing that goes into your ear. How wide the nozzle is, it's what angle the nozzle goes inside. There were iterations on the bud itself to ensure comfort.
Right content, right time.
Right content, right time. Why do we use sound to impact sleep? This is all about stimulating the brain. Through visual, touch, and audio as well. Then it's about what audio exactly do I choose in order to help myself sleep. Of course, personal preferences involved. Do I like this type of voice or this type of genre? Different types of audio that have differ
