London-based venture capital firm Seedcamp, an early backer of European tech giants like Revolut and Synthesia, has raised $320 million across two new funds and is expanding its operations into the United States. The firm will deploy $220 million into its seventh first-check fund, Seedcamp VII, and $100 million into its Select growth fund, according to tech.eu.

"Seedcamp is also expanding its presence in the US to better support the European companies it backs."

This transatlantic push comes as Seedcamp looks to help its portfolio companies tap into American markets and investors, a logical next step for a firm that has already demonstrated an eye for breakout success.

Forbes reported that Seedcamp's track record is particularly striking when looking at its third fund, raised in 2014 for just $23 million. That fund has since grown to over $446 million, fueled by early investments in Revolut, UiPath, and Pleo. The fund achieved a 50.3% net internal rate of return, placing it among the top tier of global venture capital firms.

That kind of performance, driven by small early checks into European founders, has given Seedcamp the credibility to raise larger sums and expand its footprint. The firm, cofounded by Reshma Sohoni in 2007, continues to focus on backing the next generation of European startups, now with a dedicated U.S. presence to support their growth beyond the continent.
