The FBI has dispatched 260 agents to Fulton County, Georgia, as part of what an internal memo describes as a priority investigation into alleged fraud in the 2020 election, according to SGT Report and The Liberty Daily. The large-scale deployment marks an unprecedented reinvestigation of the election by the Trump administration, as ProPublica reported.
"priority investigation"
The memo, obtained by SGT Report, says the agents are "surging" to the county. The same outlet reported that a married couple who worked for the FBI were allegedly fired last week after refusing to join the investigation.
ProPublica reported that the FBI has explored using artificial intelligence to assess the validity of signatures on tens of thousands of mail-in ballot envelopes seized from Fulton County. Internal communications reviewed by the outlet reveal that the effort focuses on comparing signatures on ballot envelopes with those on other election documents like registration forms.
This initiative comes as President Trump continues to push claims, without evidence, that the 2020 election was fraudulent, ProPublica noted. The scope of the operation has drawn attention due to its scale and the use of advanced technology in a probe of an election that has been repeatedly certified as fair.
