Early previews of Game Freak's upcoming action RPG Beast of Reincarnation paint a picture of a deliberate, plant-themed combat system that rewards patience over aggression. The studio behind Pokemon is set to launch the game on August 4, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, published by Fictions, according to Game Informer.
Director Kota Furushima emphasized the concept of "Growth" as central to the game, both mechanically and narratively. "Growth from a game system perspective" but also "story... and how players connect with that." :: Game Informer That growth manifests in protagonist Emma, who can grow vines at will in lush, plant-riddled environments, creating a unique twist on the RPG formula.
Gamespot noted that Beast of Reincarnation has "Sekiro Vibes" but won't beat you down as harshly, mixing tactical gameplay with sharp action. The outlet also reported that "Beast of Reincarnation is unlike anything that the developer , and several external teams , has made before." :: Gamespot This marks a bold departure for a studio known primarily for Pokemon, but also for quirky titles like Pocket Card Jockey and Tembo the Badass Elephant.
Kotaku echoed the methodical combat description, calling it "deliberate" and noting that it "rewards patience and learning rather than rushing." The outlet reported that players who tried an early section enjoyed the experience but needed time to understand movement and fighting mechanics in the game's sci-fi fantasy setting. With its focus on vine-based abilities and measured combat, Beast of Reincarnation looks to offer a refreshingly different experience from Game Freak's monster-catching empire when it launches this summer.
