Phoebe Bridgers has released "Lost Boys," the lead single from her upcoming third studio album Lost Weekend, marking her first solo album in six years and her first solo song in four years, according to Pitchfork and Rolling Stone. The announcement comes as a major return for the singer, whose last new material was 2022's "Sidelines," as Consequence noted.

The track opens with vocoder-filtered vocals before transitioning into Bridgers' signature sound, featuring celebratory trumpets reminiscent of her earlier hit "Kyoto," Rolling Stone reported. "The euphoric chorus describes 'lost boys' who never grow up or go home," the outlet wrote. The song boasts an extensive lineup of special guests, including boygenius bandmates Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus, producer Jack Antonoff, Alex G, Caroline Shaw, Christian Lee Hutson, and Tony Berg, among others, according to Flood Magazine and Pitchfork.

The accompanying music video, directed by Lance Oppenheim and Pablo Rochat, transports Bridgers into a Renaissance faire fantasy. Variety reported that the video features Bridgers engaging in Renaissance Faire-style role playing in suburban settings, with "sword-bearing companions and actor Skyler Gisondo as a potential suitor." Flood Magazine added that Bridgers participates in live-action role-playing, or LARP, at the faire, while Pitchfork described her as appearing as an elf in a Renaissance-style video game world.

With an album announcement and a vivid, playful visual to match, Bridgers' return leans into a sense of escapism and collaboration. The single is her first taste of solo work since 2020's Punisher, and Lost Weekend promises to extend the medieval magic theme teased in its lead track.
