Carly Rae Jepsen has announced her eighth studio album, 'Day and Night,' a 24-track double LP arriving on September 18 via Interscope Records. The project is divided into two 12-song halves that explore contrasting sonic territories, with the lead single 'On Wires' dropping this Friday.
According to Variety, the 'Day' side features organic, raw, live instrumentation with '70s-inspired psychedelic pop, while 'Night' shifts into a sleek, synth-driven dance pop sound. Rolling Stone confirmed that each album has a distinct sonic palette, with the daytime tracks described as organic and raw with live instrumentation and Seventies-inspired sounds.

Jepsen collaborated with a core team including Tavish Crowe, Kyle Shearer, Nate Cyphert, and her husband Cole M.G.N., as reported by both Variety and Rolling Stone. Pitchfork noted that this is her official follow-up to 2022's 'The Loneliest Time' and its 2023 companion 'The Loveliest Time.'
Stereogum reported that the press release describes the daytime disc as centered around the concept of day and night moods, though specific details about the nighttime tracks remain focused on dancefloor sounds. The album marks Jepsen's first new full-length project since her 2023 companion album, continuing her pattern of releasing music in thematic pairs.
