Keanu Reeves is in negotiations to star in a new live-action and computer-generated hybrid Lego movie at Universal, according to multiple reports. The project, which remains untitled, will be directed by Josh Cooley, best known for directing Toy Story 4. The film marks a reunion for the duo, who previously worked together on that Pixar sequel.
"Keanu Reeves is in talks to star in a new untitled 'Lego' movie directed by Josh Cooley (Toy Story 4)."
Variety reported that the film is described as a live-action/CG hybrid, though it remains unclear whether Reeves will appear on screen or voice a character. Deadline added that the project will mix live-action and animation, with Jill Wilfert and Ryan Christians producing through The Lego Group. Plot details are being kept under wraps, and Universal has declined to comment.
The potential casting comes as Universal has been developing scripts for a Lego movie since securing the rights in 2020, Deadline noted. Reeves previously voiced the character Duke Ka-Boom in Toy Story 4, which Cooley directed, giving the pair a prior working relationship. No screenwriter or other cast members have been confirmed yet.

With the Lego franchise already having a successful run of animated films, this hybrid approach could offer a fresh take. As Variety pointed out, the exact nature of Reeves' involvement remains uncertain, but his star power adds significant interest to the developing project.
