Waze is integrating Google's Gemini AI assistant into its driving app, bringing a set of updates that make trip personalization and incident reporting more conversational and natural. The Verge reported that the update includes four new features, with two directly leveraging Gemini: an upgraded reporting system and a new destination search tool.
The conversational reporting feature lets drivers use voice commands to report traffic incidents and suggest map updates, while the destination search function enables natural-language voice queries to find places. The Verge noted that these changes aim to make trip personalization easier and more intuitive for users. T3 described the release as a "mega-update" that brings deeper personalization capabilities to the navigation app.
Beyond the Gemini integrations, T3 highlighted additional refinements such as the ability to adjust the level of chat notifications, giving users more control over in-app chatter. Both outlets emphasized that the updates are designed to reduce friction during driving, allowing users to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road while interacting with the app through voice.
