Vivienne Medrano, the creator of the hit independent animated series Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, has partnered with Warner Bros. Pictures Animation to write and direct her first theatrical feature film, an original animated musical titled Prehistoria. The project was announced at the Annecy Animation Festival, according to Variety.
"Described as a 'fossil fantasy animated musical,' the original project is set outside her well-known 'Hellaverse' universe."
This marks a significant transition for Medrano, who rose to prominence through YouTube creator culture. Her adult animated series have generated hundreds of millions of views, and she is recognized as one of the most influential voices in independent animation, Deadline reported.
Warner Bros. Pictures Animation President Bill Damaschke announced the partnership, confirming that Prehistoria is destined for theatrical release. The studio also used the Annecy event to reveal additional voice cast for Bad Fairies and provide updates on its upcoming original slate, including Lunar Chronicles and Cat in the Hat adaptations, according to Variety.
