New Voice Cast and Songwriting Duo Revealed for Animated Musical 'Bad Fairies'

"a subversive gang of fairies as they shake up their magical world."

The film, directed by Megan Nicole Dong and co-directed by Olivier Staphylas, is based on an original screenplay by Deborah Frances-White, Deadline reported. The Hollywood Reporter added that the film features original songs from Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, the co-creators of Broadway's 'Six.'

Cynthia Erivo and Ncuti Gatwa lead the voice cast, with Erivo known for her roles in 'Harriet' and 'The Color Purple,' while Gatwa gained fame from 'Sex Education' and the upcoming 'Doctor Who' series. The addition of James Acaster, a British comedian, and Dee Bradley Baker, a prolific voice actor, brings further depth to the ensemble, as noted by The Hollywood Reporter.

The announcement at Annecy highlights the growing collaboration between Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and Locksmith Animation, with 'Bad Fairies' marking their latest joint project. The musical comedy is expected to blend humor and original music in a fresh take on fairy tale conventions.
