The Institute of Astronomy of KU Leuven proudly announces that Prof. Leen Decin has been awarded a prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant for her project SOPHIA (Shoulders of Giants: Unveiling the Interaction Physics of Giant Binary Stars). In parallel, Prof. Tom Van Doorsselaere, from the KU Leuven Centre for Mathematical Plasma Astrophysics, has also been awarded an ERC Advanced Grant for his project WHiSKi (Wave Heating in the Solar Corona by Kink Waves). This dual success not only highlights the scientific excellence of both researchers, but also the strength of the collaboration in stellar astrophysics across the two institutes at KU Leuven.
