Sony has confirmed the next wave of PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium games for July 2026, headlined by two major open-world titles: Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Rise of the Ronin. The announcement, covered by multiple outlets, also includes a handful of classic PS2 games for Premium subscribers and a highly regarded indie RPG for the Extra tier.
According to IGN, the lineup for July includes Rise of the Ronin and Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector. KitGuru reported that seven games total are joining the Extra plan this week, with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora described as "one of the more underrated Ubisoft titles in recent years." That phrasing adds context for subscribers who may have missed the game on its initial release.
Kotaku noted that the update also features a firefighting simulation game and several classic PS2 titles for Premium members. GamingBolt highlighted that Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy is available with Premium, while Avatar goes live on July 21st. The staggered release dates reflect what IGN described as "Sony still experimenting with the timing of new PS Plus game releases."
"Sony is still experimenting with the timing of new PS Plus game releases, which means the games will be released ..."
This deliberate variation in drop dates gives subscribers a reason to check back mid-month rather than all at once. RPG Site emphasized that both Rise of the Ronin and Citizen Sleeper 2 are part of the July catalog, the latter being a standout title for fans of narrative-driven RPGs.
For Premium subscribers, the PS2 classics round out a month that balances AAA open-world experiences with nostalgic revivals. The combination of recent releases and retro additions suggests Sony is aiming to satisfy both mainstream players and collectors on its subscription service.
