New Delhi: Maya Tata, daughter of Noel Tata, is likely to take charge of the e-commerce and digital marketing function for Trent's flagship fashion retail chain, Westside, as the company steps up its omnichannel and international expansion. According to a media report, Maya Tata recently stepped down from Tata Digital and is expected to bring her experience in digital commerce, customer acquisition, and online retail to strengthen Westside's online business. The move is believed to have been backed by Noel Tata, who serves as Chairman of Trent and is set to retire in November 2026. The reported appointment comes weeks after Noel Tata announced that this would be his last year as Chairman of Voltas. Speaking at the company's annual general meeting, he told shareholders that it would be his final AGM as Chairman, signalling the beginning of a leadership transition across Tata Group companies as he approaches retirement later this year. Maya Tata was earlier reported to be exploring leadership roles across Tata Group companies, including Trent and Tata Consumer Products, following restructuring at Tata Digital. Before joining Tata Digital, she worked at Tata Capital. If confirmed, she will work alongside her brother Neville Tata, who heads Trent's Star Bazaar business. Their sister Leah Tata leads the Indian Hotels Company's Taj Hotels business. All three siblings also serve on the boards of smaller entities under the Tata Trusts. The report said Maya Tata's move also comes at a time when Noel Tata has been closely reviewing Tata Digital's performance amid concerns over losses at the business. Westside, which contributes around 40% of Trent's revenue, is expanding its omnichannel strategy and overseas presence after entering the UAE market. At Trent's latest annual general meeting, the company said it plans to open around 50 new Westside stores every year.
