Ela Minus and Nick León have announced a collaborative three-song EP titled "Qué Les Pasó a Mis Amigos?" set for release on August 7 via Domino Records' imprint S, Pitchfork reported. The Colombian electronic musician and the Brooklyn-based producer have co-produced the project, with two of the tracks sung entirely in Spanish. Lead single "Espiral" has been released ahead of the EP.
Both artists previously worked together on León's track "Ghost Orchid" from his debut album, according to Stereogum. The new EP follows Minus's 2022 collaborative project with DJ Python. The pair describe an instinctive rapport in the studio.
"It was a really natural process, because we have an unspoken understanding of the spaces and textures we both want to create."
This chemistry is reflected in the EP's three original tracks, which blend Minus's melodic electronic sensibilities with León's club-influenced production. The release will also include remixes by Guedra Guedra, Brenda, and techno producer Loidis on a 12" vinyl format, Pitchfork detailed.
"Espiral," the first taste of the project, showcases the duo's shared heritage and musical synergy. The EP's title translates to "What Happened to My Friends?," a question that hangs over the introspective, Spanish-language lyrics. The August release gives fans of both artists a concise but richly layered collaboration to look forward to.
