An independent analysis by Unicamp researchers, commissioned by Folha, found that weight-loss pens manufactured in Paraguay and sold as versions of tirzepatide (the active ingredient in Mounjaro) do contain the substance. The study analyzed samples of Tirzedral, TG, Lipoless, Tirzec, and Gluconex from Paraguayan laboratories, verifying the presence, concentration, and molecular structure of the active ingredient. The samples were not mixed with semaglutide (active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy). However, the analysis did not assess purity, efficacy, or safety of the products.
