Warner Bros is in negotiations to acquire the rights to develop a new animated Powerpuff Girls feature film based on the hit Cartoon Network series. The project was teased at CinemaCon and again at the Annecy animation festival. The original series, created by Craig McCracken, premiered in 1998, ran for six seasons until 2005, won two Emmys, and became a global phenomenon. A previous 2002 animated feature underperformed at the box office with $11.4M domestic and $16M global.
