Two people have been arrested after climbing up the Empire State Building in New York City on Wednesday in an act of love. Law enforcement sources say the duo gave the NYPD their names as Angelina Nikolau and Ivan Kuznetsov, who are both known for climbing skyscrapers around the world. When the trespassing pair reached the top of the 1,454-foot building, they unrolled a gigantic banner and fastened it to the antenna. The banner read, "When the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace." The duo stood atop the tower for about 30 minutes before they began climbing down onto a platform. It was on that platform that one of the individuals appeared to propose to the other before they embraced. About 10 minutes later, they continued their descent where they were met with officials to help them finish their climb and to take them into custody.Angelina Nikolau and Ivan Kuznetsov are Russian nationals who often film themselves climbing buildings with little to no safety equipment. They are also the same pair behind a documentary called "Skywalkers: A Love Story."It is not yet clear how the pair gained access to the antenna, but a spokesperson for the Empire State Building called the incident "unauthorized." The building appeared to remain open during the ordeal. For more Coachella Valley News visit NBCPalmSprings.com
