NBC Palm SpringsCandidate Filing Period Opens for Coachella Municipal Electionnbcpalmsprings.comA local election update tonight as the Coachella begins accepting candidate filings for this year's general municipal election.Voters will elect one mayor to a two-year term and two city council members to four-year terms for the Nov. 3 election.Candidates can obtain nomination papers beginning July 13 through Aug. 7 by appointment at Coachella City Hall.Polling places across the city will be open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.City officials encourage anyone interested in running for office to contact the city at [email protected] for additional information regarding eligibility requirements and the filing process.
