In the latest edition of The Roggin Report, host Fred Roggin and panelists discussed the Supreme Court's high-profile decision rejecting the Trump administration's attempt to end birthright citizenship via executive order. The Court ruled that under the 14th Amendment, any changes to who automatically qualifies as an American citizen must go through the Constitution itself rather than presidential policy shifts. Additionally, a new bipartisan California law has been signed by the governor, giving judges greater discretion to incarcerate defendants rather than automatically routing them to community-based mental health diversion programs. The program also detailed a disturbing criminal investigation into Miranda's Rescue Animal Sanctuary in Fortuna, California. Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal revealed that the sanctuary allegedly accepted placement fees from shelters under the guise of adoption or long-term care, but euthanized the animals instead. Investigators have uncovered 117 buried dog bodies—many of which appeared to be shot—600 empty collars, and over 700 unaccounted-for dogs. The Palm Springs Animal Shelter, which sent 35 dogs to the facility under the false pretense of active adoptions, confirmed that two of its puppies were found among the dead.Locally, Gene Autry Trail remains closed due to heavy sand accumulation that trapped vehicles, raising questions about a $2 million wind wall built to prevent the issue. Finally, the show highlighted a Carson-based business creating custom-wrapped caskets to help families personalize funerals, followed by local neighborhood notices for home and bike tuning services.
