Krishnan said the government is preparing to begin work on a draft regulatory framework for AI, even as it continues to rely on existing legal provisions to address immediate concerns surrounding the technology."We will look at AI regulation when the time is right. It appears the time is getting right and we will start," Krishnan said.He added that while the government has so far used provisions under existing laws to tackle AI-related issues, "probably the time has come now to look at a separate legislation for AI.
