Electronic Arts and Maxis have rolled out a new base game update for The Sims 4 that delivers several features long requested by players. The update is built around what the developer calls the "Laundry List," a running backlog of community-desired improvements that the team has been tracking.
"addressing highly requested features from their 'Laundry List', a backlog of community-desired improvements"
This approach reflects a growing trend among developers to formalize player feedback into public roadmaps, giving fans a clearer sense of which suggestions might actually make it into the game.
GameSpace reported that the update includes a new AutoSave and Save Reminders feature, a Memory Boost specifically for Mac and console players, and broader performance improvements. The patch is part of the publisher's ongoing effort to keep The Sims 4 fresh without paid expansions.
While the full patch notes contain additional fixes, the headline additions target quality-of-life pain points that have frustrated players for years. Losing progress due to forgetting to save has been a common complaint, and the AutoSave function should reduce that risk significantly.
"Publisher Electronic Arts and developer Maxis have unveiled The Sims 4 Laundry List which details new gameplay features and improvements coming to the next Base Game Update on July 21," GameSpace noted. With the update now live, players on all platforms can download the changes immediately and see for themselves which wishes came true.
