Bethesda has announced that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 11, bringing the classic RPG to Nintendo's new console. The remastered title originally debuted on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC on April 22, nearly two decades after the original game helped define the genre, Gematsu reported.
"The physical edition, with the game on the card, is available for pre-order now at retailers like VGP."
The physical release gives collectors a chance to own the full game on a cartridge, a feature that has become increasingly rare in an era of download codes and partial physical editions. Pre-orders are already live at select retailers, according to Gematsu.
"nearly 20 years after the original game shaped the RPG genre"
That legacy makes the Switch 2 arrival particularly significant, as players who grew up with the original can now revisit Cyrodiil with updated visuals and performance on a portable device. The remaster launched on other platforms in late April, and the Switch 2 version follows a few months later.
"Explore Cyrodiil on the go when The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered launches digitally and physically on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 11."
The ability to play the vast open world on the go is a major selling point for Nintendo fans, who have long awaited a modern Elder Scrolls experience on a portable system. With both digital and physical options available at launch, Bethesda is giving Switch 2 owners multiple ways to dive into one of the most influential RPGs ever made.
