New Delhi: Indian Railways ordered a departmental inquiry after a viral video purportedly showed a First AC coupe of the Nandigram Express heavily decorated with balloons and flowers . The Railways said a couple travelling in Train No. 11002 Nandigram Express on July 6 had privately engaged a decorator online to decorate their First AC coupe. According to the Railways, the decorator entered the coach at Jalna station without authorisation. The entry was viewed as a serious lapse. “The concerned staff member has been placed under suspension, and a detailed departmental inquiry has been ordered. Appropriate action will be taken based on the inquiry findings,” the Railways said in its statement. What’s happening here 🥺😭🥺😭🥺😭 pic.twitter.com/PGW1TqmyWc — Godman Chikna (@Madan_Chikna) July 7, 2026 The video drew attention on social media because the decoration appeared to have been done inside a premium passenger coach, raising questions over access control and the use of railway property for private arrangements. The Railways said action was also initiated against the decorator. He was booked under provisions of the Railway Act for unauthorised entry into the train, travelling without a ticket and trespassing. The incident has put the focus on how an outside person was allowed to enter a reserved First AC coach and carry out decoration work inside a passenger cabin. Railways’ response indicates that the inquiry will examine the role of staff on duty and the circumstances under which the decorator gained access to the coach. The case is likely to be treated as a security and protocol breach rather than only a social media controversy, as the Railways has already suspended the staff member concerned and booked the decorator under railway law.
