New Order has announced that longtime members Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert will not be joining the band for any live performances "for the foreseeable future" due to personal health reasons. The news comes as the band prepares for their first concert in Chile in seven years, scheduled for November at the Primavera festival.
"for the foreseeable future"
According to Rolling Stone, the married couple, who have been together since 1994, are stepping away from both the upcoming Primavera Chile date and all future touring plans. Gilbert has served as the band's keyboardist and guitarist, while Morris has been their drummer for decades.
The announcement adds another layer of uncertainty to New Order's live lineup, which has already seen significant tension with former members. Stereogum noted that founding bassist Peter Hook recently stated he would not stand with his ex-bandmates at their Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction and has not spoken to them in years.
"for the foreseeable future"
Despite these absences, the band confirmed they will still perform at Primavera in Chile this November, marking their return to the country after a seven-year gap, as Stereogum reported. No replacement musicians for Morris and Gilbert have been announced yet.
