Spotify Introduces AI-Powered Chat for Premium Subscribers to Discover Audio Content

Spotify is rolling out a beta AI conversational assistant for Premium subscribers, allowing users to interact with the app through chat to find music, podcasts, audiobooks, and other audio content, according to TechCrunch. The feature is initially available in the United States, Ireland, and Sweden for users aged 18 and older, on both iOS and Android in English.
The company acknowledges the assistant is a work in progress. As TechCrunch reported, "Spotify notes it may not always work perfectly but user feedback will help improve it." That pragmatic approach suggests the tool is more of a live experiment than a finished product, with the streaming giant relying on early adopters to refine the experience.
Beta users can ask questions directly about Spotify's library. CNET reported that they "can ask questions about Spotify content, including music, podcasts and audiobooks." The conversational interface aims to simplify discovery, letting users describe what they are in the mood for rather than manually searching through categories.
Both outlets emphasized that the feature is strictly for Premium subscribers at this stage. CNET and TechCrunch each noted that it is a beta test, so availability may be limited and performance uneven. Spotify is likely gauging how well the AI handles natural language queries across different types of audio content before a broader rollout.
