Second-Alarm Fire Burns Storage Containers, Debris Near Homes in Unincorporated Palm Springs

Firefighters are responding to a second-alarm fire in unincorporated Palm Springs after a large blaze broke out Tuesday afternoon.The fire was reported around 2:24 p.m. in the 59900 block of Calle De Las Flores near Oreana Way.According to the Riverside County Fire Department, crews arrived to find multiple large cargo shipping containers, several large debris piles, and downed power lines burning. The fire was threatening approximately five nearby residential structures.The first arriving fire engine reported heavy fire conditions and requested a second alarm, bringing in additional personnel and equipment to help contain the blaze.At this time, there have been no reports of injuries or residents being displaced.Firefighters remain on scene working to protect nearby homes and bring the fire under control.
