Screen Australia has launched two new audience-focused programs in an effort to help Australian filmmakers boost the theatrical reach of their feature films. According to Variety, the initiatives named First Cut Lab and Impact & Insights are run in partnership with Tatino Films and Publikum.
First Cut Lab focuses on editing mentorship, while Impact & Insights provides strategic release guidance. The programs are open to scripted narrative features intended for theatrical release that have not previously received agency support, Variety reported.
The two programs are part of Screen Australia's refreshed Market & Audience strategy. The agency aims to give local filmmakers more tools to connect with audiences and improve the commercial prospects of their work in cinemas.
Ftwr.cloud noted that the initiatives are set to transform the local film landscape, pointing to a broader push within the Australian industry to strengthen the connection between independent productions and theatrical audiences.
