Pioneer Tunnel Coal Mine and Steam Train will welcome visitors from across the region for its annual Pioneer Day celebration on Saturday, July 25, from 10a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will celebrate both the heritage of Pennsylvania’s Anthracite Coal Region and America’s 250th anniversary. The day-long event will feature guided underground coal mine tours, steam train rides, antique mining displays, craft vendors, food trucks, children’s activities, live music and blacksmith demonstrations. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the region’s rich mining history while enjoying a variety of family-friendly attractions.
