storyboard18.comMeta unveils experimental AI app Pocket for creating interactive ‘gizmos’storyboard18.comMeta has introduced an experimental artificial intelligence app, Pocket, that allows users to create, share and discover AI-generated interactive experiences using simple text prompts, expanding its suite of consumer AI products beyond text, images and video.Currently available in select markets through the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store, Pocket enables users to generate what Meta calls “gizmos”, interactive and playable experiences that can be built without coding. Users simply describe the experience they want, and the app uses AI to generate it.According to Meta’s Help Centre, gizmos can take various forms, including simple games, drawing tools, music soundboards and other interactive experiences. Depending on the type of gizmo, users can interact by tapping, swiping or dragging objects, tilting or shaking their phones, using their device’s camera or microphone, or responding to music and sound effects. Camera and microphone access require user permission. The app also includes creation tools that allow users to refine their gizmos before publishing them. Creators can choose whether to allow others to remix their work. If remixing is enabled, other users can modify and share new versions of the original gizmo, with existing remixes remaining available even if the original post is deleted.Pocket doubles as a social discovery platform, featuring a feed where users can browse creations from the community, save favourites into playlists and build on existing gizmos through remixing. To use the app, users must sign in with an existing Meta account or create a new one. Meta says it uses account information, including names, usernames, profile details, age and account status relating to Community Standards and intellectual property violations, to personalise the experience and help keep the platform safe. The company also states that interactions with gizmos are used to improve its AI models. If Meta AI is unable to answer a query, prompts and general information such as a user’s region may be shared with selected partners to improve responses. Depending on the region, user interactions may also be used to personalise AI experiences, content and advertisements, although users can object to their information being used for AI development through Meta’s privacy controls.Meta noted that AI-generated content created through Pocket remains subject to its Community Standards and Terms of Service. Content that violates these policies may be removed, while accounts responsible for sharing such content could face restrictions or suspension. The app surfaced publicly after mobile developer and reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi spotted it on app stores and shared details on social media. Meta has not formally announced the launch or outlined its long-term plans for the platform, suggesting Pocket is currently being tested with a limited rollout. The launch adds to Meta’s growing portfolio of generative AI offerings, which already includes tools for image creation, video generation and editing across Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. With Pocket, the company is exploring AI-generated interactive entertainment, allowing users to create playable digital experiences through natural language prompts rather than conventional development tools.
