The company said the latest effects are intended to help users create content around seasonal themes and trends. The update also expands template creation capabilities. Creators can now build more reusable templates with support for overlays and a new clip-locking feature. Locked clips remain fixed in place when others reuse a template, making it easier to preserve key visual elements while allowing users to customise the remaining content. The additions continue Meta's rapid development of the Edits app, which has received frequent feature updates since its launch. As competition intensifies in the creator economy, the company is positioning Edits as a more comprehensive editing platform by regularly introducing new AI-powered and collaborative tools for short-form video creation.
