It's a weekend of superheroes and stunts at the box office, and Manny the Movie Guy has reviews of two of the latest releases hitting theaters.First up is "Supergirl," based on the DC comic series "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow." The film stars Millie Alcock as Kara Zor-El, a traumatized and rebellious heroine still coping with the destruction of her home planet.Manny praised Alcock's performance, calling her the film's greatest strength. He also highlighted appearances by David Corenswet as Superman and Jason Momoa as the bounty hunter Lobo, saying Momoa steals nearly every scene he appears in.However, Manny says the film struggles with tone and structure. While it attempts to blend the cosmic energy of "Guardians of the Galaxy" with the gritty style of "Mad Max," he felt the final result was uneven. He also noted that some visual effects in the third act failed to live up to expectations. "Supergirl" earns two-and-a-half out of four kisses. Also opening this weekend is "Jackass: Best and Last," a farewell celebration of the franchise that helped define outrageous stunt comedy for more than two decades. The film reunites Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius and the rest of the crew for a mix of classic moments and never-before-seen footage. While the outrageous pranks and stunts remain a major part of the experience, Manny says the documentary also delivers something unexpected: genuine emotion. The cast reflects on 26 years of friendship, injuries and unforgettable moments, creating what Manny describes as a surprisingly heartfelt goodbye."Jackass: Best and Last" receives three out of four kisses and earns Manny's pick for the weekend. While "Supergirl" is expected to lead at the box office, Manny says "Jackass: Best and Last" may be the film audiences remember most.
