The Detroit Lions released cornerback Terrion Arnold after he was arrested on eight felony counts of kidnapping and armed robbery, according to cbssports.com. The charges stem from an incident in Tampa, Florida, in February.
Arnold faces four counts of robbery with a firearm or deadly weapon and four counts of kidnapping. nfl.com reported that the charges carry a potential life sentence and the 23-year-old turned himself in on Wednesday, being held with no bond. A judge later set his bond at $1 million, cbssports.com noted.
"The charges stem from an ongoing criminal case involving six codefendants accused of assaulting and robbing three men in an apartment."
The former first-round draft pick is due in court Thursday. Defector reported that he was booked at Hillsborough County's Orient Road Jail. The Lions' decision to release Arnold came swiftly after the arrest, ending his tenure with the team before his legal case proceeds.
