Know Before You Go: Summer Projects Are in Full Swing

It's time for another Know Before You Go, our weekly look at the road work you need to plan around before you hit the road. CV Sync Traffic Program Manager Kris Gunterson joined us in studio to break down what's happening this week.La Quinta: Miles Avenue Pavement RehabilitationMiles Avenue is closed in both directions between Dune Palms Road and Adams Street for a full pavement rehabilitation project, Gunterson says. Crews already pulverized the roadway and started repaving Friday, ahead of schedule. Midweek, the work zone shifts from the Adams to Washington stretch, so expect that closure to move down the road with it.The project runs through the end of July, with crews working west one block at a time. If you need to get around the closure, use Fred Waring Drive or Highway 111.Palm Springs: Indian Canyon and Via Escuela Traffic SignalCrews start installing conduit for a new traffic signal at Indian Canyon and Via Escuela today, so expect heavy equipment on site and more traffic control near the intersection. Lane closures will shift throughout the week as the work progresses, Gunterson says.If you live in the area, avoid the intersection if you can. If not, expect a manageable slowdown getting through, though it's worth prepping now for a permanent signal once the work wraps.Rancho Mirage: Bob Hope Drive Utility InstallationSouthbound Bob Hope Drive near Gerald Ford Drive drops to one lane this week for utility installation, Gunterson says. Crews expect to finish by the weekend. Use Monterey Avenue as your alternate route north and south to avoid the slowdown.Looking ahead, Gunterson says the entire road will get a slurry seal treatment in September, so more work is coming for Bob Hope Drive later this summer.Safety Tip of the WeekCheck your tire pressure, engine oil, and radiator coolant levels before you head out. You'll find the recommended tire pressure on a sticker in the door jamb, next to the B pillar, on the driver's side.
