Health Secretary RFK Jr. Blocks Preventive Services Task Force From Meeting for Fourth Time
The United States Preventive Services Task Force, a key health care panel, has been repeatedly blocked from meeting under Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Meetings were canceled in July 2024, November 2024, March 2025, and now a planned meeting has been postponed until late August 2025. The Supreme Court ruled in June 2025 that Kennedy could unilaterally remove panel members and override its decisions. He has also failed to fill expired vacancies and fired the panel's two chairs in May 2025. The postponement was attributed to an "unprecedented number of nominations" requiring more time for selection and onboarding.
