Kevin Bacon has signed on to star in 'Summoner,' a new horror film from Amazon MGM Studios that marks the directorial debut of Jeremy Slater, Deadline reported. Slater is known for writing 'Mortal Kombat II' and 'The Umbrella Academy,' according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"Jefferson Haddock (Bacon), who is called to an isolated witness protection property to confront a demon, unleashing a destructive force."
The film follows exorcist Jefferson Haddock, played by Bacon, who is summoned to a remote witness protection location to face a demonic threat, The Hollywood Reporter added. The project is being produced by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Russell Ackerman under their Nocturna banner, with Dan Kagan serving as executive producer, Deadline noted.
Bacon's involvement adds star power to what promises to be a tense supernatural thriller, building on his recent work in horror and genre films. The combination of Slater's writing pedigree and the Muschiettis' producing experience suggests a polished entry into the horror landscape.
