Josh Grisetti, a Broadway actor and California State University, Fullerton professor, died by suicide at age 44. Friends and former co-stars Sierra Boggess and Rob McClure announced his death in separate Instagram posts, saying he died by suicide, according to LIVENOWFOX.

Grisetti appeared on Broadway in the musicals It Shoulda Been You and Something Rotten!, and also played a role in the television series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. He made his Broadway debut in 2015 as Marty Kaufman in It Shoulda Been You, a performance that earned him the Clarence Derwent Award, the Broadway outlet reported. Outside of performing, he taught musical theater at Cal State Fullerton, as noted by TheaterMania.

Grisetti was born on December 1, 1981 in Washington, D.C., and grew up in southwest Virginia, according to the Broadway outlet. He graduated from the North Carolina School of the Arts in 2000 and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from the Boston Conservatory in 2004. After building a career in regional theater, he made his Broadway debut in 2015. He is survived by his wife, Mackenzie Grisetti, LIVENOWFOX reported.

Parade Magazine reported that Grisetti died on Friday, July 11, by suicide, while other outlets, including the Broadway outlet, stated the date as July 10. The loss has prompted an outpouring of grief from the theater community, with colleagues praising his talent and warmth. Grisetti's work as both a performer and educator left a lasting mark on those who knew him.
