Jeff Shell, the former president of Paramount Skydance, has settled a lawsuit filed by professional gambler R.J. Cipriani, bringing the legal dispute to a close. The lawsuit, which had been dismissed with prejudice, involved allegations that Shell owed Cipriani payment for off-the-books crisis PR work performed under an unwritten agreement, according to Variety.
"The litigation has now been resolved."
Cipriani had originally sued Shell for $150 million, claiming he was owed for the PR work. Shell countersued, arguing that Cipriani was attempting a "shakedown" by exploiting their brief relationship for an undeserved payday, as reported by Variety.
The lawsuit also touched on allegations of loose lips and misconduct that led to Shell's firing from Paramount, according to Deadline. The settlement brings closure to the legal action that threatened to expose further details about the executive's behavior and the company's handling of the situation, Deadline reported.
