Summary
This article presents the development of NECTIN4-ICG, a Nectin4-targeted fluorescence imaging probe for bladder cancer diagnosis and surgery. By conjugating indocyanine green (ICG) to enfortumab vedotin, the researchers created a probe that specifically targets Nectin4, a membrane protein highly expressed in bladder cancer. In mouse models, NECTIN4-ICG enabled targeted detection and doubled the complete tumor resection rate. An ex vivo study of 18 fresh human bladders (82 specimens) showed that NECTIN4-ICG-guided biopsy achieved 96.3% diagnostic accuracy, significantly outperforming conventional white light cystoscopy for real-time visualization and surgical precision during transurethral resection.
