Trump backs MyPillow founder Lindell in Minnesota governor race

President Donald Trump has endorsed MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell for Minnesota governor, a move that solidifies Lindell's standing as one of the former president's most loyal allies. Trump announced the endorsement in a Truth Social post Wednesday, praising Lindell as "one of America's greatest and most hard working Patriots" and saying he "loves Minnesota" and "wants to bring it back from oblivion and embarrassment." (KSTP, WDIV, Newsday)
"Nobody has sacrificed more than Mike Lindell in fighting for our country, especially when it comes to Election Integrity."
Trump went on to write, "He truly deserves everything he gets - He will MAKE MINNESOTA GREAT AGAIN!!! MIKE LINDELL HAS MY COMPLETE AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT - HE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN." (FOX 9) The endorsement was widely expected given Lindell's role as a prominent promoter of Trump's baseless claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him.
Lindell built a national profile through his MyPillow infomercials and has been one of Trump's most vocal supporters, repeatedly amplifying false allegations of voter fraud in the 2020 race that Trump lost to Democrat Joe Biden. (KSTP, Sentinel and Enterprise) His advocacy has also drawn legal scrutiny, with Lindell facing multiple lawsuits connected to his election-related claims, as FOX 9 noted.
The endorsement comes as Trump continues to target outgoing Democratic Governor Tim Walz, accusing him of mismanagement and allowing fraud in federal childcare spending, accusations Walz has disputed. (KSTP) Whether Lindell can leverage Trump's support to win the governor's mansion in a state that has not elected a Republican governor since 2006 remains an open question.
