From the article

Disability Rights UK is Disabled people leading change. We are working towards an inclusive society where Disabled people have equal power, rights and equality of opportunity. We are looking for new Trustees to join our Board and help us make a real difference to the inequality and inequity that Disabled people continue to experience across the UK. This is an opportunity to bring your skills, experience and commitment to an organisation that is rooted in lived experience, focused on rights and justice, and determined to influence lasting change for Disabled people. We take a Disability Justice and Social Model approach to all our work. This means recognising that Disabled people’s lives are shaped not only by barriers created by society, but also by the impact of multiple marginalisations, including racism, poverty, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and other forms of exclusion. We are committed to deepening our understanding of these experiences and ensuring that Disabled people who are LGBTQIA+, from Black, Asian and other minoritised ethnic communities, and from other marginalised groups are central to our work, our decision-making and our future direction. Over the past two years, we have been developing our anti-racist strategy through work led by our Anti-Racist Working Group. We are also placing a particular focus on our organisational culture, so that our values are lived in practice and we create a working environment that is flexible, supportive and enables people to grow personally and professionally. Are you passionate about equality, rights and justice for all Disabled people? Do you want to use your skills and experience to help shape a stronger, more influential Disabled people’s organisation? Can you help strengthen the voice of Disabled people and support Disability Rights UK to achieve greater impact, influence and sustainability? Our elections at our AGM are on 25th November 2026 and successful candidates will join the board on 1st January 2027 for a three-year term .
