Dev Hynes, known for his work as Blood Orange, has composed the original score for Olivia Wilde's upcoming A24 film "The Invite," which was a hit at Sundance. The first track from the score, titled "Contentious Environment," has been released ahead of the film's debut next month, according to Stereogum.
"The Invite" is described as an anxious comedy about a dinner party gone wrong.
Pitchfork reported that the film is a remake of the 2020 Spanish comedy "The People Upstairs." It stars Seth Rogen, Olivia Wilde, Penelope Cruz, and Edward Norton, and follows a couple whose relationship is tested after inviting their neighbors over for dinner.
This marks Hynes' sixth film score and his first collaboration with Wilde, who is directing for the first time since 2022's "Don't Worry Darling," Pitchfork noted. Hynes has previously scored projects including Queen & Slim, We Are Who We Are, Passing, and Paul Schrader's films, according to Stereogum.
