Capcom has officially revealed Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, a major expansion arriving this October that will deliver over 25 hours of new content, according to Eurogamer. The release marks a significant effort to revitalize the action RPG after a rocky launch in 2024.
Prior to the expansion's arrival, Capcom is rolling out two large updates aimed at addressing persistent performance issues and improving quality of life. Multiplayer.it reported that these updates are part of an effort to "win back the trust of Dragon's Dogma 2 fans" by directly responding to community feedback.
The expansion also brings Dragon's Dogma 2 to the Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time, a move that was not part of the original plan. und.com.ua noted that developers admitted the Switch 2 release was not initially intended. On the new hardware, the game is expected to target a minimum of 30 frames per second, with one developer offering an encouraging assessment. "It's exceeding our expectations." :: Nintendo (via nintendolife) This is a notable shift given the original game's technical reputation. "Dragon's Dogma 2 garnered a fair bit of criticism following its release in 2024 thanks to some pretty dire performance issues." :: Nintendo (via nintendolife) The performance-focused updates and the Switch 2 debut appear to be a direct response to those complaints. Gameliner added that the expansion's producer has promised a substantial amount of extra content, reinforcing the scope of the DLC.
With Dark Arisen, Capcom appears to be addressing both fan sentiment and technical shortcomings, aiming to revive Dragon's Dogma 2 across multiple platforms. The October window sets the stage for what could be a turning point for the title.
