California Highway Patrol Stepping Up Enforcement for 4th of July Holiday Weekend

The California Highway Patrol is stepping up enforcement for the busy 4th of July holiday weekend beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday and continuing through Sunday night. All available CHP officers will be on patrol targeting impaired, reckless, and speeding drivers all across the state.Locally, officers from Indio Highway Patrol will focus on I-10, Highway 111, and other unincorporated areas. Patrol officers say 100 low-profile patrol vehicles will also be deployed to stop dangerous driving behaviors.Last 4th of July weekend, officers made more than 1,300 DUI arrests statewide. Seven people were killed and about 400 others were injured in crashes investigated by the CHP. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department and local police agencies will also conduct patrols throughout the holiday weekend. For more Coachella Valley News visit NBCPalmSprings.com
