The Los Angeles Fire Department has confirmed the massive warehouse fire in Boyle Heights has officially been knocked down after burning for more than a week.Fire officials announced Wednesday that crews have successfully contained the blaze at the cold storage facility, meaning firefighters are confident the fire will not spread any further. The fire generated significant smoke and air quality concerns throughout East Los Angeles and neighboring communities, prompting health warnings and ongoing monitoring by local officials. With the fire now under control, attention is turning to recovery efforts. The fire department says it will partner with private contractors to begin removing food products stored inside the warehouse.According to fire officials, the facility contained more than 85 million pounds of food, including frozen products. A portion of that inventory has already been destroyed by the fire, while additional food has spoiled during the prolonged incident. The cleanup operation is expected to be complex and could take weeks as crews work to safely remove damaged products and assess the condition of the building. No timeline has been announced for when the facility may be fully cleared, but officials say recovery efforts are now underway as the community continues to recover from the effects of the historic fire.
