Bayern Munich has promoted 20-year-old forward Arijon Ibrahimović to Vincent Kompany's first team for the upcoming season, according to fc.bayern. The club announced the move as part of plans to bolster the squad depth, with Yahoo News New Zealand reporting that Bayern will have a much bigger squad this season.
Ibrahimović originally joined Bayern at age 12 in 2018 and has developed through the club's youth system. He spent last season on loan at 1. FC Heidenheim and previously gained experience at Italian clubs Frosinone Calcio and Lazio, as fc.bayern noted. The forward is under contract with Bayern until 2028.
"He will wear the number 22 shirt."
The number assignment signals his integration into the senior side, and the promotion reflects Bayern's strategy of tapping into homegrown talent amid a larger roster push. Yahoo News New Zealand indicated that Ibrahimović will back up all four attacking spots at Bayern Munich in 2026/27, though the immediate plan sees him contribute to Kompany's squad this season. With his versatility across the front line, Ibrahimović could provide valuable depth as Bayern competes on multiple fronts.
