The company said the decision reflects a changing cybersecurity landscape where advances in artificial intelligence could allow attackers to exploit software flaws more quickly. The latest updates focus on security rather than new features. Apple told Reuters that while it has found no evidence that the newly patched vulnerabilities were actively exploited, it wants to shorten the gap between publicly disclosing fixes and delivering them to users' devices. Also Read: Tata data breach exposes iPhone 18 Pro supplier details, prototype imagesThe move represents a departure from Apple's typical update cycle. The company generally bundles security fixes into the next major operating system release, unless an actively exploited zero-day vulnerability requires an emergency patch. During that period, developers and beta testers usually validate the upcoming software before it reaches all users. This time, however, Apple has shifted several fixes from the iOS 26.6, iPadOS 26.6 and macOS Tahoe 26.6 beta releases into the current public update.Apple's security documentation also notes that several fixes included in iOS 26.5.2 had already appeared in the 26.6 beta versions, indicating the company decided to accelerate their public rollout. According to reports, the update addresses more than two dozen vulnerabilities, including several affecting WebKit, the browser engine, and the operating system kernel. The fixes are designed to prevent issues such as app crashes, malicious web content triggering unexpected behaviour, memory corruption and clipboard data exposure. The accelerated rollout comes amid growing attention on AI's expanding role in cybersecurity. Anthropic's Mythos Preview recently identified thousands of software bugs through Project Glasswing, an initiative that includes Apple among its participants. However, it remains unclear whether the AI model had any involvement in Apple's decision to release the security patches ahead of schedule. Similar cybersecurity-focused AI capabilities are also emerging from companies including Japan-based Sakana AI, China's 360 Security Technology and Z.ai, according to the reports.Users with compatible devices can install the updates through the Software Update section in Settings. The release is available for iPhones that support iOS 26, including models from the iPhone 11 onwards.Read More: Apple challenges India antitrust findings, calls probe ‘copy-paste’ exercise
