Digital Extremes packed TennoCon 2026 with major announcements for both Warframe and Soulframe, including a romance system for the Warframe: 1999 expansion and a release window for Soulframe early access. Polygon reports that the event showcased the developer's vision for the coming year across both franchises.
The Warframe: 1999 expansion introduces a new romance system, allowing players to develop relationships with characters in the 1999 setting. According to Polygon, the expansion also brings the "Temple" Warframe, a rockstar-themed frame that wields a guitar as a weapon. Additionally, an Infested Liches system is on the way, offering a new enemy progression mechanic.
Cross-platform save and progression features were highlighted as part of ongoing quality-of-life improvements, Polygon noted. The event also emphasized community engagement and developer panels, though specific dates for the Warframe 1999 release were not given.
On the Soulframe side, Digital Extremes announced that the game will enter early access in 2026. Polygon reported that a new open-world zone called "The Midnight Realm" will be available, along with a PvPvE mode named "The Hunt." The second Polygon article added that Soulframe will also feature the "Vanguard" class, a zone called "The Glades," and a "Preludes" early access launch phase.
The breadth of reveals reflects Digital Extremes' commitment to expanding both games simultaneously. With a romance system, a music-themed Warframe, and a PvPvE twist in Soulframe, TennoCon 2026 gave fans plenty to look forward to.
