Forest fires have broken out in two separate locations, mobilizing emergency crews in Colombia and Spain. In Cali, Colombia, a wildfire near the Cristo Rey monument prompted a rapid deployment of firefighting resources. Infobae reported that two forest machines and a team of 12 specialized firefighters were sent to the area to combat the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to other zones.
Meanwhile, in Spain, a forest fire was declared at the foot of the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park in Huesca. According to elDiario.es, the fire remained active on Wednesday following a night of intense electrical storms that brought multiple lightning strikes. The INFOAR firefighting operation deployed a helitransported brigade with a light helicopter and a ground brigade to work on extinguishing the blaze.
In addition to the Ordesa fire, elDiario.es reported that a second forest fire broke out in Castanesa, where a helitransported brigade, a ground brigade, and a fire engine were intervening. The fires in Spain were attributed to the lightning activity from the previous night's storms.
Both incidents underscore the persistent threat of wildfires in regions with dry conditions or sudden storms. Authorities in Colombia and Spain are maintaining surveillance as fire crews continue their efforts to contain the flames.
