The Aadhaar App has crossed 31 million downloads within five months of its launch, reflecting growing adoption of the government's digital identity platform and increasing use of mobile-based Aadhaar services.According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the app has emerged as a key channel for residents to access Aadhaar-related services directly from their smartphones, reducing the need for physical visits to service centres. The government said nearly 4 million users have updated their mobile numbers through the app, while around 850,000 people have used it to change their addresses. The figures indicate a rising preference for self-service digital updates among Aadhaar holders. The Aadhaar App has been developed with a privacy-focused approach, enabling users to securely show, share and verify their identity. It includes features such as biometric lock and unlock, face authentication for proof of presence, authentication history, and QR-based contact sharing.Users can also download e-Aadhaar, book appointments online for Aadhaar Seva Kendras, and access a range of identity verification services through the platform. The government highlighted that the app is being used across multiple real-world scenarios, including hotel check-ins through QR code-based verification, hospital admissions, visitor management systems, event entry processes, and identity verification of gig workers and service providers.Available on both Android and iOS platforms, the Aadhaar App is part of the government's broader push to make citizen services more accessible through digital channels while enhancing convenience and data privacy.Officials said the steady growth in downloads and service usage reflects increasing confidence among residents in using mobile-based Aadhaar services for routine identity and update requirements. Also read: TAM eyes CTV measurement gap as advertisers demand reach and frequency metrics
