<p>We are building a local news website that is 100% focused on the town and people of Sault, Michigan.</p>
<p>From town government decisions to school updates, public safety information, business developments and events in our community, Soo Leader will be the go-to source for local news.</p>
<p>As we work diligently to tell the story of our community and its people, we are driven by an unshakable belief in the importance of being accurate, fair and transparent as we strive to keep you up-to-date on the latest news.</p>
<p>Soo Leader is run by Village Media, an ever-expanding network of local news and information websites in the U.S. and Canada that is dedicated to providing local stories written by journalists who live and work in those communities. </p>

<p>Frank Rupnik is a veteran writer and editor who has worked at news organizations across Ontario for more than 30 years. He has a passion for local news and looks forward to bringing this spirit to Sault, Michigan and area.</p>
<p>Rupnik worked for more than 10 years as editor of The Sault Star and recently took over the reins at SooToday.com. Working at a growing company like Village Media, the parent company of SooLeader, is an inspiration for Frank. Local news is alive and well thanks to the commitment and vision of Village Media, says Rupnik.</p>
<p>Sault Ste. Marie is a wonderful place with so much to offer and interesting stories to tell. SooLeader will bring it all together for you. </p>

<p>An award-winning journalist, Sara's journey to Sault Ste Marie, Michigan began when she left the Thumb’s rural cornfields behind to work with inner-city youth in the streets of Detroit.</p>
<p>After spending over a decade working in the criminal justice and mental health fields, Sara decided to go back to school and obtain her master's in Mass Media Journalism at Full Sail University.</p>
<p>Since graduating in 2018, she has worked for various television, radio and print news outlets.</p>
<p>As your hometown journalist, Sara promises to tell the stories that matter most to the people of Sault Ste. Marie.</p>
